Our heart is to build Community Outreach Programs where families can gather to live, love, learn and worship together. It started with a sewing machine and aprons... now these communities are birthing their own outreach programs, even into youth prisons where at risk teens are receiving love through music and their own guitar!
Our guitar workshop is based in a tiny village community. This program started with the local missionary, Lisa, teaching basic chords on her guitars. Before long guitars were being donated, talented Hondurans were teaching their communities how to play and worship and then we found a guitar maker!! That's when the program really took off! We've made over 100 guitars and sold several to visiting missionary teams. We have donated the rest to at-risk teens, children in our program, guitar teachers, mamas and even a few Honduran officials! Donate a guitar to an at-risk youth by giving $60 here.
Our leather program has taken off with the donation of a leather sewing machine! The Mamas are creating beautiful leather journals and handbags.
The sewing program is what kick-started our whole skillset training project. We have had generous financial support from loving donors who provided our Mamas with manual and electric sewing machines. We started out with aprons and scrappy skirts from donated material... now we are able to bless local businesses by buying fabric in Honduras. The Mamas now make gorgeous skirts, dresses, purses, bags, shirts and school uniforms for their children.
Many of the Mamas love to cook and bake. One of our communities focuses primarily on these skills. They sell their baked products in the local markets and get paid to make meals for missionary groups.
Jewelry making has created fun avenues to get all ages and genders involved. From beaded jewelry to rock carving to coconut shell necklaces to leather bracelets... there is something for all.
The Mamas in the program are teaching each other how to make piñatas! Piñatas are a favorite celebratory past time for children in Honduras.
